I can't stop patinaing...is that a word? Well, it is now. I am obsessed and am going to start patinaing the walls before long. Ok, not really, but it is so addicting. Here are a few new additions, patina Half Pipe earrings and my first metal cuff bracelet. Next month will be the first give away on www.courtneyfischer.blogspot.com, check back soon for details.

Academy Awards
I usually try to watch the end of the Academy Awards, I would like to watch it all but it is so long! This year the nominated movies I saw were Milk and Slumdog Millionaire. Both films were extraordinary and heartfelt. I loved loved loved the music from Slumdog, need to get the soundtrack. After Milk ended my friend turned to me and said, "Sean Penn should be dipped in bronze". I couldn't have agreed more.Harvey Milk rides along Market Street in the 1978 Gay Freedom Day parade.

It's Business Time
It's Business Time. Tickets to go see the Flight of the Conchords makes me a happy camper. I tried last year to get tickets but they sold out so fast. This time around I was better prepared. Here is a link to one of their folk hip hop songs. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbbxA8a_M_s. So funny!
It is the last weekend to vote for shops you heart on Paper N Stitch. Head on over there and send me a heart http://www.papernstitch.com/shop/courtney-fischer-jewelry. Have a great weekend!
Hello Friday!
Hello Friday! We are expecting around 5-8 inches of snow here in Michigan this weekend. I am going sledding if we do. I am also going to break out my new saw and make some more jewelry. I have a new solution that gives metal an antiqued brown surface. Time to turn on the heat and get working. I sold my first two pairs of patina earrings this week on etsy, thank you kind customers. Patina is so beautiful and I am looking foward to working with it more. Here are a few pics, one with a black solution applied to copper and the second is patina.
For local Michiganders, if you have not been to the Paint Creek Center for the Arts in Rochester, you should! It is a beautiful space where you can take classes or just stop in to see work from local artists. I currently have a few pieces in the gift gallery, along with some beautiful handmade items. There is something for everyone at the the Paint Creek Center for the Arts. The tulips in this photo have me longing for spring big time! http://www.pccart.org/

Happy Valentine's Day
I found the cutest vintage looking valentines this year. It brought me back to the days of giving valentines to your classmates (circa first or second grade) in those flimsy white envelopes. Memories! I got my Valentine an awesome tshirt from Threadless.com based in Chicago. They have been a staple in my gift giving the last few years, especially for boys. The designs are creative and colorful. Check out their website, www.threadless.com. Off to see Gran Torino. Portions of the movie were filmed in Detroit and I am anxious to see it. Happy Valentine's Day!

Time is flying. It is Valentine's Day tomorrow, which means we are that much closer to spring!
I have been trying my hand at metals and loving every minute of it. My early Valentine's present was a saw and I am very excited to use it, along with all the other tools. I also started working with patina and really love the color and how you can manipulate it with different layers. Here are a few pictures
